When Curtis Stone temporarily closed his Michelin-starred restaurant, Maude, he brought us a little taste of his upbringing: pies upon pies upon pies.
The tasting-menu destination is still closed, but in the meantime, there's the Pie Shop by Gwen: a casual takeout shop and bakery where savory pies, sweet pies sausage rolls, sticky toffee pudding and sandwiches are all on offer from the Aussie chef and his talented pastry team. Not only do the pies come in Australian and U.K. classics—such as shepherd's pie and beef-and-ale pie—there are newbies, too, like the hot-pot–inspired curried lamb pie, and a luscious oxtail pie with braised beef cheek. Don't forget to grab a bottle of the house condiments; we're partial to the onion-and-date chutney and also the piccalilli.
